Government Arts and Science College, Sathyamangalam, affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, was established in the year 2016. It is situated in the outskirts of Sathyamangalam spread over an area of 9.7 acres. College is recognised with 2(f) and 12(b) of the UGC Act 1956. The college was started with three Under Graduate programmes in Commerce, Economics and English with a total strength of 180 students. Currently, it functions with a total of 11 UG degree programmes with Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Business Administration, Visual Communication, Physics, Chemistry and Botany as additional courses and around 1000 students as its strength.
The campus, situated in the midst of lush greenery, hosts three buildings with 25 well-ventilated classrooms, 6 state-of-the-art computer and science laboratories, a well-equipped library with INFLIBNET facility, a conference hall and a cafeteria. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled and the water is purified with RO technology and has separate parking facilities for the staff members and the students. The college is well-equipped with good quality infrastructure for academics as well as extra- curricular and co-curricular activities like NSS, YRC and Yoga for multidimensional approach.
Physical education, being the part of curriculum, the practice is also carried out in our college campus. Sports like Athletics, Skipping, Short Put, Disc Throw, Kabaadi, Foot Ball, Kho-Kho, Tennikoit, Shuttlecock, Throw Ball, Volley Ball, Carom, Chess and Cricket are practiced. Students also participate in Intercollegiate sports tournament. Sports activities refresh our students and help them in academics as well.
The college library is an asset for both budding scholars and students. Home to the vast collection of books (around 5575), covering almost all aspects of Arts, Commerce, Humanities and Science. The library augments learning beyond standard curriculum text books.
The laboratories help students complement their sound theoretical knowledge with hands on application. The acoustically treated conference hall has a seating capacity of around 500 audiences. This space is used for formal functions and audio-visual presentations. Every student of the college is provided with an Identity Card and should be produced as when asked for.
The students are also specially trained for the TNPSC examinations and also CLP classes are undertaken. The college imparts education to the socially backward classes including rural poor and works for their social and economic advancement in their possible way.
The college functions with 52 teaching, 2 CLP instructors, 1 Assistant Librarian and 13 non-teaching members of faculty. Of the three buildings, two were new magnificent buildings constructed marking a significant milestone in our institution's commitment to academic excellence and innovation. These modern structures are designed to enhance the learning experience and provide cutting-edge facilities for our students, faculty, and staff.
