The Department of Botany was established during the academic year 2023-2024 offering B.Sc (Botany) Under Graduate Course with 30 students of intake. As a newly incepted Science Department, it has an objective of providing quality education in the basic areas of science. The curriculum framed by the Bharathiar University is followed by this department which caters to the needs of present-day society. The botany department has a rich tradition of imparting high-quality teaching and hands on training in cutting-edge thrust areas of botany and plant science. To achieve this, all the students are being guided properly not only in terms of his/her academics but also to develop their leadership quality, professional skills, risk management ability and by imparting the human values.
In addition to curriculum aspects, all the students are encouraged to take part in Co-curricular activities such as National Service Scheme (NSS), Youth Red Cross Society (YRC), Sports & Games and Fine Arts Activities. In order to ensure and encourage the Girls students towards their higher education, the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Scheme (PUDHUMAI PENN) implemented by the Government of Tamil Nadu is followed in this department. The Government of Tamil Nadu recently launched “NAAN MUDHALVAN SCHEME” for the benefit of students studying Higher Education Institutions with the aim of empowering them with Career skills.
